The streetwear brand Bape® (A Bathing Ape®) stands for the lifestyle of a young generation. She wears her street style in the trendy camouflage look from the Tokyo scene out into the world. “When I started with graffiti in the early 1980s, the term street art didn’t exist yet. Only later, as we emerged from the tunnels and train stations, did we become much more visible. Documenting my art through photography has always played a role in my creativity. With the introduction of digital cameras, I got my first Leica,” recalls Stash, who sees many parallels between the three art forms. «It’s all visual, the colors, the shapes, the freedom of expression. I think it’s mostly youth driven and there’s so much creativity between these mediums that one helps the other to complete the story.” When designing the limited special edition of the Leica D-Lux 7, the New York artist incorporated the graphic form of expression for which Bape® is famous as well as his own personal signature.

Technically, the limited edition of the Leica D-Lux 7 “A Bathing Ape® X Stash” corresponds to the series model, which has a large Micro Four Thirds sensor and a fast zoom lens with optical image stabilization (1:1.7–2.8/24–75mm 35mm equivalent). For the 17-megapixel resolution, the lens uses a central area of ​​the sensor, which originally had a resolution of 21 million pixels, which increases the image quality even further. In addition to high-resolution photos, the sensor also delivers 4K 30p or Full HD 60p videos. It comes with an additional carrying strap, a specially designed camera pouch and an auto-opening lens cap. The price of the black Leica D-Lux 7 “A Bathing Ape® X Stash” in Switzerland is CHF 2,190, including VAT.
