An earthquake and aftershocks have been felt near Taupō.

Another reported that that they had heard rumbling continue for over an hour after the biggest quake, and that their two-storey home had been rocking through the shake.
There have been no speedy stories of harm from the incidents.
Taupō’s volcanic alert stage (VAL) was raised to 1 in September.
