Unfortunately, given budget limitations this year and the location of the bowl, UAB is sending a smaller delegation to the bowl game this year; this includes not sending some UAB leaders, students and employees who might usually travel to a bowl game, including the Marching Blazers. The Marching Blazers often do not attend UAB Football road games, and participating schools’ bands don’t perform at halftime of the Bahamas Bowl. Miami University is also not sending its band, which is common for the Bahamas Bowl. We appreciate our band’s valuable contributions and understand their disappointment, but this is a necessary, financially responsible decision.”
